REAL CONVERSATIONS
WITH real PEOPLE
Each opinion carries different experiences, convictions, feelings, a story. And there is always more than one perspective to that story.
Why Mindshift?
We believe in a world where social barriers won’t interfere with the path of empathy and development.
MindShift was born as we realized that we might never agree on certain things, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t work together. And to accomplish that, the first step is to dare to have a conversation. Dare to listen and to understand and not only to respond. Because now we know that understanding a person’s story makes it easier to love them.
the story behind mindshift

On April of 2018, we started the idea of creating a space where people from different backgrounds could share their knowledge, opinions, ideas and perspectives, seeking peaceful conversations through exciting activities with the purpose of creating peace between different people, and to promote the better-understanding within the vast diversity of realities that exist throughout our country. The original purpose of this event was a campaign of consciousness towards the presidential election that took place in Mexico that year.
MindShift-Democracy is a space to exchange ideas, knowledge and perspectives about the previous, present and future history of Mexico. This activity intends to reach 100 university students who are participating in an election for the first time in their lives, and help them understand the importance of their vote for a correct democracy as well as to inform them so they can make the best decision for themselves.
The first MindShift event received approximately 80 young university students from the states of Puebla, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Quintana Roo, Campeche and Yucatan.
Two weeks after that, another MindShift event took place with approximately 70 students in the city of Campeche.
The idea began to aim towards a bigger objective than the elections and considering a broader spectrum of topics.
It was then when we started planning and eventually hosted the MindShift-Feminism event at Tec de Monterrey Campus in Monterrey (where Pascal had a chapter and in collaboration with HeForShe Tec), where we implemented a new dynamic and hosted a MindShift event with around 50 participants. This was without doubt a big step for the movement, since we had the opportunity of connecting new and interesting people who share the vision of MindShift.
Back in Merida, there were other MindShift events in collaboration with other organizations and an increasing number of invitations to organize events of different sizes.
We had the opportunity to take part in important and even historical events, like the Nobel Peace World Summit that for the first time happened in México. In the summit we met people that opened our eyes to a whole new diversity of ideas, nationalities and ethnicities; which only encouraged us to grow as a movement alongside other peacemakers.
After a while, we found ourselves in the need for a team that would live out what MindShift is all about, and that would help us build a platform through which other people could get the necessary resources to organize their own MindShift event. That led us to get the MindShift crew together.
